Learning from this history and experience, today our expert forestry and conservation teams continue to care for hundreds of hectares of trees at our sustainably managed woodlands in Cheshire, Lancashire as well as mid-Wales and in the Highlands of Scotland.
Actively managing woodlands is essential to ensure their future, to enhance sensitive environmental habitats and to improve its safety and quality. Well managed woodlands are also key to solving the nature and climate crises, supporting nature recovery, helping to sequester carbon and enhancing climate resilience.
Through permitted activities – such as thinning to enhance biodiversity, coppicing to regenerate the habitat or clear-felling to restore the woodland – we produce sustainable raw materials for use on our estates.
Grosvenor TimberWorks was born out of a desire to craft specialist products using high-quality and characterful British timber.
From our state-of-the art facility at Grosvenor’s Eaton Estate in Cheshire, England, our expert team works with architects and specifiers to meet even the most exacting of requirements, from luxurious solid hardwood floors, beguiling worktops, to intricate internal joinery.
For those with grand designs, we produce premium British graded timber that can bear the heaviest loads.
We’re set apart by our access to an extensive variety of native trees, including hardwoods – such as oak, ash, beech, lime and poplar – as well as softwoods, like larch, spruce, and pine.
Their natural characteristics lend each species to different uses and bring unique hues, grains and textures, while all sharing unrivalled provenance to within a hectare of named woodland on our historic rural estates.
Crafted from slowly grown trees, preferred for their enhanced strength, personality and durability, our products are natural, minimally processed and lower carbon alternatives to modern materials, such as engineered MDF, plastic, concrete and steel.
We bring together a progressive approach and long-term commitment to British woodland management with a dedication to craftsmanship, using both precision machinery and traditional methods.
Like all parts of Grosvenor, we share a common purpose – to deliver lasting commercial, social and environmental benefit – addressing today’s needs while taking responsibility for those of future generations.
A by-product of our forestry management, we also manufacture a range of hard and softwood garden and landscaping products through our subsidiary Cheshire Timber Products as well as Woodsure approved seasoned firelogs for use in fireplaces, stoves and wood burners via Cheshire Fire logs.
